Body powder for men: An introduction

One would think that there would be scant little to write about when it comes to the subject of powders, baby, body, or otherwise. However, it has become quite clear that such an assumption is way off base. Recently, I was alerted to the fact that apparently all men, myself included, are drastically under-powdered.

Not since Louis XIV has the need to powder ourselves been so in vogue, important, or widely hyped. 2011 could very well be the beginning of a powder renaissance. These days, though, it isn’t wigs, ruffles, or faces that we are powdering (at least most of us), in fact, unless one is intimately familiar with the bathing habits of one’s friends, it may not be entirely obvious where all this powder is being applied.

Once my curiosity was piqued, I sent out a few emails to see if I could get some samples to try out in order to write about them here. The response to those emails was overwhelming. Due to the generous responses from Chattem Inc., the makers of Gold Bond, Grooming Lounge, a purveyor of fine men’s grooming products, Joyce Labs, the makers of Dry Goods, Jewel Dust, and Balla Powder, a head-to-head was made possible.

Consider yourself warned; the literary content of this upcoming series will contain subject matter quite cheeky in nature. Though the editorial guidelines by which I’m bound shall be adhered to vociferously, it is impossible to write about these products without referring to certain anatomical features unique to the male anatomy. This is unavoidable and the nature of this powdery beast.

Full disclosure: These products were provided at no cost for the purpose of testing/reviewing. To think otherwise would be unrealistic.
