Body of missing teen Sarah Alarid found in Los Angeles area ravine

On Jan. 9, 2013, the body of missing teen Sarah Alarid was found inside her silver Ford Focus in a Los Angeles area ravine, say authorities.

KTLA reports that friends and family had not heard from Alarid, 19, since she left a New Year’s Eve party around 3 a.m.

Lt. Dave Dolson of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Dept. told reporters, “We have confirmation that it is the missing girl from Canyon Country… All indications are right now that it’s an accident scene. There’s no indication of foul play, but investigators are still processing the scene.”

Alarid’s family released a statement Wednesday thanking everyone who participated in the search for her, saying “…Your support has been amazing. Our gratitude towards everyone’s efforts can not be expressed enough along with the generous donations from the community… We love and miss Sarah so much! Please respect the family’s time of grieving.”

According to KTLA, a candle light vigil will be held for the teen at Todd Longshore Park in Canyon County at 8 p.m. PT.
