Adrianna Horton, 12, of Golden City; northwest of Springfield, Missouri, went missing on Monday afternoon after her first day back to school. Golden City has just under a thousand residents and upon realizing the child was missing, a large scale search was conducted. More than a dozen law enforcement agencies and hundreds of volunteers searched Golden City and the surrounding countryside for Adrianna. Friends of Adrianna reported to the police that she was observed getting in a vehicle at a local park where they were playing. The vehicle was later identified to registered owner, Bobby Bourne Jr., 34 who was stopped about an hour and half following the incident. He has been charged with kidnapping. Reportedly, Adrianna's father was a former employee to Bourne. Bourne was being held in the Barton County jail on $1 million bail.
Days later, the Missouri Highway Patrol said a body was found believed to be Horton but will take time to conclude preliminary reports. DNA testing may be necessary to make a positive identification.
