Body of Chelsea King found

Body of missing 17-year-old Chelsea King found

San Diego County Sheriff William Gore held a press conference announcing the sad news that a body believed to be that of missing 17-year-old Chelsea King was found. He stated, “Great sadness this afternoon that we discovered shortly after 1 p.m. human remains near the water`s edge in a shallow grave within the area in which our search efforts had been concentrated. Although positive identification has not been made, there is strong likelihood that we have found Chelsea.”

On Sunday, February 28, 2010,  a registered sex offender was taken into custody: John Gardner III. Gardner is scheduled to be arraigned tomorrow. According to Chelsea King’s mother, detectives found Chelsea’s underwear and laboratory tests confirmed that John Gardner’s DNA was present on the material. Chelsea disappeared Thursday, February 25, 2010 after she left her San Diego home to go jogging.

John Gardner III was convicted for molesting a 13-year-old girl. Now questions have been raised as to why Gardner was released and given such a light sentence. He was sentenced to 5 years for the 2000 molestation. In that case, Gardner was convicted of molesting the girl why he repeatedly punched her in the face.

According to authorities, the body was found at approximately 1:00 p.m. approximately ten miles off the shore of Lake Hodges. Searchers had been looking for Chelsea for six days. A positive identification should be made within a day or so.

Police say that John Gardner is not cooperating with the investigation.

this is really sad and wrong. it shows how messed up our world is right now.

I think that is so sad that we as a nation continue to let these sexual predators out of prison so that they can continue to re-offend and rape and kill our children. How SAD is it we sentence people that abuse their bodies with drugs and drug dealers harsher than we treat those that MURDER and RAPE INNOCENT children knowing that there is no cure for their behavior. We as a NATION should be ashamed that we have not forced this country to have a HARSHER sentence for these animals!

There is something very wrong with our society that allows these sexual predators to prowl around looking for another victim.
Reading about the Rodney Alcala trial (in Orange County) confims that the predator is treated better than his victim.

What a horrible thing to happen to any young girl but expecially Chelsea. Our prayers are with all of the family and friends and we know that this preditor will be off the street forever if our court system convicts and sends him back where he belongs.

Why hang him? I say feed him to the sharks LIVE! No amount of pain or torture can be given this man that exceeds what he deserves.

I can't comprehend how someone can do something like this to anyone, especially to a child or young adult. I was molested by an uncle when I was 7 years old and that's just something someone can never really get over. I'm 22 now and there are days when it's still too hard to even talk about. It's terrible to go through something like that and live through it, but to be murdered by the person who molested or raped you is absolutely tragic and heart-wrenching. I can't imagine what Chelsea's parents are going through losing a daughter particularly in this way. I agree with Lori; there should be a harsher punishment for these sick-minded people. It doesn't make any sense to punish drug addicts more than sexual predators. I feel like our society only reacts to these issues when another body is found and it's too late to do anything. Why not make a bigger effort to prevent these murders and disgusting acts from ever happening again? This has to change.
My heart goes out to Chelsea's family

My heart is definitely heavy lately - not just for the Family and Friends of Amber Dubois and Chelsea King- but my heart is weary even for John Gardner.
Just based on the "evidence" of finding his DNA even remotely near Chelsea King sure does sound like solid evidence- doesn't it?
Well That seems to fit together almost too nice and easy.
I'm NOT going to yet conclude John Gardner is guilty
nor am I saying he Is is totally innocent

Anyone that molests anyone under the age of 15 should be executed. We're filling prisons up with the scum of the earth and giving them 3 hots and a cot, plus they get to work out, take classes, they have life better than a lot of hard working people in this country. The more I read about guys like this POS, the more I like Taliban justice.

It's very sad that in a country like America who praise itself of Free and Just, monstres like that are allowed to live and commit their crimes over and over. Why, simply because they can and they do, and if ever they get caught 2 or 3 years in prison and they're free again to roam the country and commit yet again more aggression. Monsters shouldn't be allowed to live with human beings, they should be put to death. Why should they live when they torture and kill innocents kids, kids that will never live another day to see the sun shine, to go to school, to have a future and to enjoy life. America, your Justice System sucks.

The dude has life imprisonment without the possibility of parole. What do you mean monsters are back out on the street after 2 or 3 years, Fad?
