The body of a young man discovered in a ditch yesterday morning has now been positively identified as that of 19-year-old Desmond Ray Kinnemore of Rockmart.
Kinnemore's body was discovered in a ditch near the intersection of Morgan Valley Road and Second Street in Rockmart. The discovery came after police received calls from area residents who reported hearing gunshots fired in the area.
A Polk County police officer investigating the gunshots located the body of a male subject lying in a ditch and determined that the male was deceased. Rockmart Police were notified to respond to the scene.
The investigation into the death of Desmond Kinnemore is ongoing and continues to be investigated as a homicide case. Police have no suspects at this time. A shell casing was located near the body. Other evidence was discovered in a nearby vacant house on Second Street.
The body was transported to the Georgia Crime Lab Division of Forensic Sciences for an autopsy. The Georgia Bureau of Investigations investigative division will be assisting local agencies with the investigation.
