Bodies of missing Texas family found behind rural barn

GRAYSON COUNTY, Texas (Isabelle Zehnder reporting) -- Officials confirmed Sunday that bodies discovered behind a barn in rural Grayson County, Texas, were those of a missing elderly couple and the woman's daughter.

The woman’s son is the prime suspect in their deaths.

According to Fannin County Sheriff Donny Foster a sheriff’s deputy who was searching for Harold and Sue Harpst’s missing van found their bodies behind the barn Saturday, along with the body of Sue’s daughter, Regina Taunton.

The family had been missing since Jan. 15. The woman’s vehicle is also missing and has not been recovered.

Thomas Tauton, Sue Harpst’s son, is in custody in Louisiana and has been charged with the murders based on evidence found at their home in Fannin County, Texas.

It is not known how the family died.
