Fans of New York State wines frequently complain that most Capital Region restaurants either ignore state vintages or give them short shrift. For at least a day, Boca Bistro in Saratoga Springs will remedy that situation, and do some extra good in the process with something it is calling "New York Corks."
The restaurant will mark its second birthday from 1 to 3 p.m. this Sunday with tastings of more than 40 wines from 10 New York wineries. Admission, payable at the door, is $15, with $10 of each admission benefiting "Parker Sweeney Conquers Chiari."
Ten-month-old Parker Sweeney has been diagnosed with an unusual neurological condition known as Chiari Malformation. His family says he will need surgery in the coming months, and will incur lifetime costs associated with his condition.
Featured New York wineries will include The Brotherhood Winery, Bully Hill Vineyards, Thirsty Owl Wine Company, Swedish Hill Winery, Duck Walk Vineyards, Adirondack Winery and Mount Felix Vineyard & Winery. Boca Bistro, part of DZ Restaurants, a local culinary group, is located at 384 Broadway. Phone: (518) 682-2800.
