Hamptons magazine gave Examiner an exclusive preview of the fall fashion issue featuring cover stars Bobby Flay and his wife actress Stephanie March. Mariska Hargitay, Stephanie's former co-star and a friend of the couple, interviewed them for this special issue. Mariska introduced the couple and recently graced the cover of Hamptons magazine herself. During the interview, the famous couple opened up about everything from who cooks at home to their latest business ventures.
Mariska discussed personal and professional heroes with Bobby and Stephanie. Bobby looks up to Wolfgang Puck because he gave everyone in his generation a career by revolutionizing the way they look at food in this country. Stephanie said her answer used to be anyone who won an Academy Award but that has changed over the years. If she could be anyone, it would be Melinda Gates because she is successful, brilliant and giving back. Stephanie feels she is a force for legitimate change and admires her.
Bobby talked about whether he feels there is still more to do in his professional life. He likes what he has right now, including restaurants in New York and Las Vegas as well as Connecticut, Atlantic City and the Bahamas. He also has Bobby's Burger Palace with 15 locations and intends to stop at 20. Bobby has decided, “I want to redo what I’ve been doing my whole career as opposed to doing something new.” w. Stephanie said when they discuss redoing, such as menus or designs, it is more like revisiting. Stephanie expressed, “Imagine playing something in Shakespeare when you’re too young to do it, and getting the part 20 years later when you really know what you're doing and then just killing it. What an opportunity!”
The couple also dished about how often Stephanie cooks for Bobby. His wife admitted she never cooks but Bobby claimed she has a roster or six or seven things she makes incredibly well. Stephanie feels there are only three or four, which one of them being cereal. She said to Bobby, “But that's super nice of you.”
Stephanie's favorite place to travel is always the place she just came back from and her second favorite is the place she is going to next. She just came back from Nepal and India with World of Children Award to check on a clinic for children with muscular disabilities and a clinic that rehabilitates people who are the victims of sex trafficking. She is pleased to be able to see what people are doing to make a difference and is inspired by it. Stephanie also feels she is very lucky that Bobby is super supportive of this significant part of her life.
Mariska also chatted with Stephanie about her new makeup salon, Rouge NY. Stephanie said it is relatively simple to get your hair done for an event but harder to get your makeup done. The options seemed to have been having a makeup artist or going to a counter at the department store and being pressured to buy products. Stephanie added, “This is the modern service for the professional girl.”
