Bobby Brown sentenced: DUI gets him 55 days in jail (Video)

Bobby Brown has been sentenced to 55 days in jail for a DUI, reports TMZ on Feb. 26, 2013. The 44-year-old former husband of the late Whitney Houston was arrested in October after driving erratically and smelling of alcohol, and he was charged with a DUI and driving on a license that had been suspended, according to TMZ, due to a previous DUI conviction in 2012.

Brown was sentence to jail, plus 4 years’ probation. He was also ordered to complete an 18-month alcohol program. Brown must turn himself in by March 20, and also attend three AA meetings per week until he does. This is his third DUI conviction.

In May 2012, the R&B singer told Matt Lauer, in an interview, that he's been drug free for seven years. However, as followers of celebrities know, alcohol is also a drug that gets many stars in trouble .

In the interview, Brown was adamant that he did not get Houston hooked on drugs. "I didn't get high before I met Whitney . . . I smoked weed. I drank beer. But, no, I wasn't the one who got Whitney on drugs, at all."

In Jan. 2013, Michael Houston, Whitney's brother, confirmed that Bobby was not the one responsible for getting the pop star on drugs and that it was in fact he who was responsible. "I would say, yeah. We did everything together," said Michael Houston. "You gotta understand at the time . . . the '80s . . . it was acceptable."
