Bob Newhart 'Big Bang Theory' appearance: Actor to guest star on hit CBS comedy

A Bob Newhart “Big Bang” appearance is trending on national search engines this week, as the CS Monitor reported this Thursday, March 21, that the former TV star is set to return to the small screen this May in a guest role on the hit CBS show, “The Big Bang Theory.”

Under the headline, “Bob Newhart ‘Big Bang Theory’: The actor will guest star in May”, the CS Monitor has confirmed via TV Line that Newhart will be playing Professor Proton, a popular science TV host of a local children’s show. “Big Bang” characters Leonard and Sheldon are allegedly very big fans of the show, and as hired the professor to make a showing at their very own apartment.

Bob Newhart’s “Big Bang Theory” arrival will premiere this May 2 on a new episode of the comedy series.

“We’re really excited about it,” Steven Molaro, a co-producer of “The Big Bang Theory”, said during this month’s PaleyFest about having Bob Newhart making a guest appearance.

“The Big Bang Theory” is already in its sixth season. The very popular CBS show has continued to reap very high ratings week after week for the network, with new episodes often winning that night for the most viewers. A seventh season has already been renewed.
