Bob Newhart is ready to hit the small screen again and he will be guest starring on an episode of "The Big Bang Theory" soon. TVLine revealed on Thursday, March 21, 2013, that the veteran actor is going to be stopping by the popular series to play the role of Professort Proton, the former host of Sheldon's (Jim Parsons) favorite science show as a kid.
Newhart will appear on the episode of "The Big Bang Theory" airing on CBS on May 2, 2013.
This particular episode of "The Big Bang Theory" will focus on Sheldon doing an online search for his favorite television show, Professor Proton. He eventually tracks him down and discovers that he can be booked for private events and ends up inviting him to his home.

Newhart had appeared on another hugs show for CBS back in 2010 when he guest starred on "NCIS."
Even though Newhart has shown up on a few dramas and in some movies in the past years, this will be his first comedy guest spot since 2005 when he was on "Desperate Housewives." This truly seems like a match made in TV heaven.
