The Bob Evans Farm, in Rio Grande, Ohio (near Portsmouth), is a popular and rewarding destination for families and other travelers, and an affordable option for trips from the Cincinnati area. The family homestead of the famous restaurateur was once a stagecoach stop and inn that now offers horseback rides, an Indian burial mound, Revolutionary War cemetery, and reconstructed cabins and schoolhouse for visitors’ enjoyment. It is also the site of the annual Bob Evans Farm Festival each Fall.
Now, beginning this month, The Bob Evans Farm will receive a three-million-dollar upgrade focused on renovating a barn to host receptions, construction of a new amphitheater for concerts and performances, and relocating the historic Adamsville log cabin closer to the homestead for easier access by visitors.
The improvements are slated for completion in advance of the 41st annual Bob Evans Farm Festival to be held October 14-16, 2011.
The restaurant and general store on the historic site are open year round. The Farm and Homestead Museum opens daily on April 1, 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
