Bob Dylan does his best Bing Crosby in his first Christmas album

Dylan gets his graphic artists from the late nineteenth centuryIn a long celebrity tradition of Jewish entertainers singing Christmas carols, Bob Dylan has confirmed that he shall soon release a holiday album.

In Dylan's latest album, "Christmas in the Heart," (What, Dylan couldn't think of a more original title?), the music icon will croon to several holiday favorites, including "Winter Wonderland," "Here Comes Santa Claus," and "Little Drummer Boy."  The full playlist has yet to be released.

The album cover (shown right) is reminiscent of something you'd see in this genre from the fifties and it appears to fit with the traditional song selection.

All proceeds from the album will go to benefit the charity Feeding America.  The recording will be under the Columbia label and is set to be released in early October.

Normally I'd mark any music legend releasing a Christmas album in the twilight of his career as "selling out," but I'll make an exception since it's all for charity.  You got lucky this time, Dylan.

Well, when I heard Dylan was going to do a Christmas album, I shook my head and thought..."That'll be the last thing in the world I buy". Some of my favorite songs on it, but Dylan????? Really? Then I hear its for charity and I think...."Well, for charity, I guess".
