Statements “confirming” an appearance by Bob Dylan at this summer’s Lucca Summer Festival appear to be nothing more than unconfirmed rumors.

According to a report posted earlier today in rockol.it:

The news came to us directly from Mimmo D'Alessandro who, with his partner Adolfo Galli, is the manager of the agency that organizes the Lucca Summer Festival - and belies what was reported a few days ago by the site GabbianoNews TV about the presence of Dylan at the 2014 edition of the festival in July in Napoleon Square in the Tuscan town (news taken for granted by the GabbianoNews TV site): "The presence of Bob Dylan at the next Lucca Summer Festival is absolutely false," said the promoter Mimmo D'Alessandro, contacted by telephone today in the morning (Monday January 27): " There is a negotiation in progress with his management, yes, but we are trying to solve a problem of dates in our agenda to break the deadlock. AS of now, however, we have no certainty about Dylan presence in Lucca"

(Thanks to Mr. Tambourine, from the Dylan fansite Maggie’s Farm, for the information, and translation.)

As previously reported, Dylan and his band performed at the premiere festival in 1998, and was rumored to appear again in 2012, although that never came to pass.

Full European tour dates for this summer are rumored to be announced as early as this week.
