The upcoming benefit album, Chimes of Freedom: Songs of Bob Dylan Honoring 50 Years of Amnesty International, was originally scheduled to be released tomorrow, but has been postponed until early next year. According to a report in today's USA Today, the set has been expanded from 50 to 73 songs over four CDs. The article listed Pete Townshend, My Chemical Romance, Sugarland, Ziggy Marley, Maroon 5, and Dylan himself among the artists included in the set.

DYLAN AMNESTY TRIBUTE: Mark has recorded the song "Restless Farewell" which will be featured on the forth-coming Amnesty International tribute album, Chimes of Freedom: Songs of Bob Dylan Honoring 50 Years of Amnesty International. The album will be released on the 24th of January, 2012, in North America and the rest of the world on the 30th.

Chimes of Freedom: Songs of Bob Dylan Honoring 50 Years of Amnesty International is a new album that gathers an extraordinary line up of recording artists who have contributed new unreleased recordings of iconic songs by the incomparable singer-songwriter.
More than 70 artists – performing in every conceivable musical style, from rock, rap and jazz to country, folk and punk -- have volunteered their time and artistry to support Amnesty International’s life-saving work to protect human rights around the world.
Due for retail release in early 2012, the projects celebrates Amnesty International’s founding 50 years ago.
The album is in the spirit of Instant Karma – Amnesty International’s landmark 2007 double-album of John Lennon’s songs recorded by stars including U2, R.E.M., Green Day and others. Chimes of Freedom reconnects Amnesty International and Dylan, whose celebrated early folk songs – "Blowin’ in the Wind," "Chimes of Freedom," "I Shall Be Released" and others – hold special meaning for human rights activists. "I Shall be Released" was adopted more than 30 years ago as Amnesty International’s unofficial anthem.
