Memorial services for Mr. Bob Cox (Cox/Lyle Boxing), long-time Denver amateur boxing supporter who passed away last week in Las Vegas, Nevada, will be held at the Salvation Army/Red Shield Community Center Chapel, 2915 High St. in Denver, following his cremation in Las Vegas where he had resided for many years.

Arrangements for the Denver service has yet to be completed but will be posted here when finalized.

Bob Cox was well known by Colorado fight fans for his and the late Bill Daniels’ relationship with former Denver heavyweight contender Ron Lyle, Cox’s son Greg Cox befriending Lyle during Lyle’s pursuit of the heavyweight championship back in the late 70’s.

Greg Cox died in a tragic motorcycle crash in 1981, Bob then establishing the annual Greg Cox Memorial Boxing Tournament in honor of his son, it later becoming the Greg Cox/Ron Lyle Memorial Tournament after the passing of Lyle on November 26, 2011.

Bob Cox is survived by daughter Susan Cox-Carlin and grandson Greg Carlin, namesake of his deceased uncle Greg.
