Bob Costas still sick? Matt Lauer to take over NBC Olympics for a third night

Bob Costas is still struggling with pink eye and the sportscaster won’t be coming to work to broadcast the Winter Games highlights. The man who is working double, Matt Lauer, is expected to be sitting behind the sports desk on Thursday night once again. According to NBC Olympics on Thursday, the decision to bench Bob Costas was made only a short time ago and there is no doubt everyone is bummed that Bob Costas won’t be in the building

Viewers will agree Bob Costas is the best when it comes to talking about the Olympics. While there is no disrespect intended to Matt Lauer, it just seems that Costas knows the facts and figures by heart and he really gets into the games. Lauer’s good too, but he’s just not as excited as Costas.

Hopefully Bob Costas will find his way back to the NBC Olympics sports desk real soon. People are longing for his presence and some might even suggest that’s why they show up to watch the coverage in the first place. While eye infections are serious, there is hope that the star is resting up comfortably and getting ready for a weekend debut. The Olympics are over two weeks long so Costas has plenty of sports stories to cover, just as long as his eyes will have it.

Get well soon Bob Costas!
