Bob Costas eye infection: What is wrong with Bob Costas' eye?

Bob Costas' eye infection has a lot of people wondering what has happened that made his eye so darn swollen. The answer is fairly simply: Whilst in Sochi for the 2014 Olympics, Bob Costas contracted pinkeye. On Feb. 8, UPI reported that Costas' eye has been nearly swollen shut and that he has been wearing glasses because of the infection. At this point in time it is unclear how Costas' contracted pinkeye but the infection should clear up soon.

"According to the NBC doctors here, it’s some kind of minor infection which should resolve itself by the weekend. If only all my issues would resolve themselves that quickly, but that’s another story," Costas explained during one of his Olympic broadcasts last week (via The Inquisitr).

Bob Costas' eye infection could have been caused by a number of things. There are various ways a person can contract pink eye from allergies to a virus to a chemical reaction. Naturally it's embarrassing and doesn't look all that great -- especially for someone that has to be on television -- but it will go away... hopefully before closing ceremonies. A classic case of pinkeye generally lasts about 7-10 days.

According to WebMD, pink eye symptoms include: Redness in the white of the eye, swelling of the eyelids, itching or burning feeling of the eyelids, swollen and tender areas in front of the ears, a lot of tearing, and/or clear or slightly thick, whitish drainage. Gross, yes, but also fairly common.

Bob Costas' eye infection isn't getting him down, however. He has been on television all weekend, keeping everyone up to speed with what's going on with Team USA.
