‘Boardwalk Empire’ casting J. Edgar Hoover role for season four

There have been many iconic figures shown throughout the first three seasons of “Boardwalk Empire.” Al Capone, Bugsy Siegel, and Lucky Luciano are just some of the real-life characters featured in the series’ fictional narrative. Now, according to a Feb. 26 report from Spoiler TV, another name is being added to that group, and it’s a big one.

It is being reported that a 27-year-old J. Edgar Hoover will be cast for the upcoming fourth season of HBO’s Prohibition-era drama. The post from Spoiler TV doesn’t say much, other than the character is “humorless” and he has “one big scene as the head of the Bureau of Investigation.” There is also a possibility that the character might be a recurring one.

Season four of “Boardwalk Empire” will reportedly jump ahead to 1924, which was the year Hoover was made director of the Bureau of Investigation following President Warren Harding’s death. This is also often referred to as the year that gangsters like Lucky Luciano and Al Capone really started to get recognized.

“Boardwalk Empire” will return in the fall of 2013.
