It’s almost that time again, time to watch hundreds of basset hounds waddle their stuff down the Ocean City Boardwalk as part of Ocean City, N.J.’s infamous Doo Dah Parade. A proper BoardWaddle must have a Grand Marshall so, without further ado, meet 2014’s Grand Marshall, Ms. Bella Frisch!
Bella came to live with the Frisch family in 2012 after a lifetime as an outside kennel dog. Typical of a lot of the hounds Tri-State rescues, she was scared and sad. She was also recovering from surgery with four incisions that needed to heal. It didn't take Bella long, though, to learn to enjoy the Frisch’s cozy home and couch.
Slowly but surely, the Frisch’s love, along with that of their other basset, Baxter, brought Bella around. She came out of her crate, feeling safe and loved as a now-permanent member of the Frisch family. What was supposed to be a temporary situation blossomed into love and a “furrever” family for Bella.
Bella has waddled before. Mom Kathy says, “This will be Bella’s second BoardWaddle. She managed to walk three-quarters of it last year before being loaded on the pooped pup truck. We look forward to Bella helping Baxter to raise much-needed money for their beloved Tri-State Basset Hound Rescue. “
And after you enjoy the Basset Olympics, the Dinner/Pawction, the actual Waddle and the Picnic, don’t forget to stop by the adoption pens and look around. You can create your own love story, just like Bella’s. A little love, a little food and some belly rubs are all it takes. Get your adoption application HERE and turn it in so you’ll be ready to bring your new best friend home with you.
It’s a lot of fun, but the BoardWaddle is also Tri-State Basset Hound Rescue’s biggest fundraiser of the year to help the many hounds the organization rescues every day. If you can’t adopt, please leave a donation, buy a shirt or bid on some items. There are so many ways you can help the hounds!
And don’t forget to stop by and see Bella. She’ll be waiting to greet you.
