BMW catches on fire and burns to the frame

Luxury vehicles and exotics are not exempt from the random vehicular combustion that occurs through out the world's roadways. No matter how much you pay for your car, you are still literally playing with fire. The following BMW burnt to the frame from an unknown fire source, but was declared not stolen so that eliminates over abuse. What could have caused this 3-series to burn? Many things can cause a vehicle to burn, but chances are that the main perpetrator of this antic is fuel. Usually started by leaky fuel lines, the flammable liquid lands on the exhaust pipes which causes ignition. Any metal surface the fuel touches that is over 495 degrees is recipe for disaster!

More fiery disasters!

Even though this random combustion has affected all forms of vehicles, there is a few ways you can prepare for the vent and defend against it. For modified vehicles that are forced induction, it's very important you keep a fire extinguisher somewhere in the vehicle. Many times, vehicle fires start small and can be eliminated if treated immediately. Keeping the $15 extinguisher can possibly save your vehicle from complete destruction, it's totally worth it!

Defense against a fire occurrence is found by keeping the vehicle properly maintained. Keep an eye on your coolant levels to avoid overheating, which leads to premature wear. Keep a steady check on your fuel system, and each time you change your oil take a few minutes to inspect your injectors, fuel rails, lines, filter, and pump if it's external. Your nose knows, so take a few minutes and sniff around your vehicle just to make sure there is no fuel leaks. Had the owner below done this, they might not be in such a "hot" situation.
