A BMW product timing list was somehow leaked and reportedly, U.S. Bimmer enthusiasts can expect a 3-Series diesel wagon to hit the U.S. next year reports Digital Trends.
The BMW 328d which will begin production in July is said to be getting a 2.0 liter 4-cylinder turbo diesel. The car will have about 220 ponies and a stout 330 lb-ft of torque.
Even though diesel powered vehicles are all the rage outside the U.S., folks on these shores have not felt all that compelled to put one in their driveway. True dat, diesels get about 25 to 40 percent better fuel economy than their gas brethrens, they hang around longer and fare better as far as resale values BUT there is still that old stigmas about them that just won't go away. But still why are diesel car sales only 1.5 percent of sales?
The diesel cars of yesteryear were more expensive, emitted a stomach-turning odor, sounded like a bag of bolts when driving, and the fuel cost more at the pumps. Kinda difficult to wipe out that outdated image for many older folks. On the flip side, younger motorists can appreciate the fuel efficiency, cleaner technology and velvety delivery of torque of the newfangled diesels of today.
Meanwhile, getting back to the 328d, there is no info as to whether or not the wagon will be available in a stick but rest assured, the family car will come with the famed xDrive all-wheel drive system.
As far as pricing for the BMW 328d wagon, your guess is as good as mine, mum's the word on this as well, so stay tuned....
