Blues legend John Primer comes to Ames on March 8 (Photos)

Blues legend John Primer will make a stop in Ames on Friday, March 8 for a show on the Iowa State University campus. The concert will be a seated show in the Maintenance Shop in the ISU Memorial Union (2229 Lincoln Way). Doors will open at the M-Shop at 8:30 p.m., and the music will start at 9 p.m. Tickets for the concert are $12 in advance and $14 the day of the show. ISU students may purchase tickets at the special discounted rate of $7 ($9 the day of the show). There will only be 150 tickets sold for this all ages concert event. Tickets may be purchased from the M-Shop box office or Midwestix.com.

Mississippi-born bluesman John Primer started playing guitar at the tender age of 8 years old. Primer has gone on to play with the likes of Muddy Waters, B.B. King, Junior Wells, Smokey Smothers, the Chicago All-Stars, and Magic Slim & The Teardrops. As a solo artist, Primer has recorded more than a dozen albums, and he has been a Grammy Award nominee, a Handy Award nominee, and a four-time Blues Music Award nominee. Primer was voted the "Blues Artist of the Year (Male)" in the 2010 Living Blues Awards Critics' Poll. Check out John Primer in action below.
