According to the Canadian Press, the St. Louis Blues trounced the Calgary Flames 5-0 at the Scotiabank Saddledome on Thursday night.

Blues goaltender Jaroslav Halak made 33 saves, as the Blues won their seventh straight game to move into a first place tie with the Chicago Blackhawks in the Central Division. The Blues and Blackhawks have a nine point lead on the Colorado Avalanche. The Blues actually have an edge on the Blackhawks because they have three games in hand.

Offensively it was also a strong night for the Blues. Vladimir Tarasenko, who will be representing Russia at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi (and be one of ten Russians competing in Sochi) and Vladimir Sobotka (who will represent the Czech Republic at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi) each notched a goal and an assist.

The Blues have a short turn around as they are in Vancouver on Friday, while the Flames host the Pittsburgh Penguins Saturday.

Calgary has now been shutout in five of their last seven games, and are now 17 points back of the Minnesota Wild for a playoff spot.
