Danbury's getting grassy this weekend. Dan Paisley and The Southern Grass, winners of the International Bluegrass Music Association's Song of the Year, are bringing their authentic, made in America, bluegrass music to The Palace Danbury this Saturday, April 12. Led by the son of the late legendary Bob Paisley, the band plays powerful bluegrass music, weaving together lightning fast finger picking, three-part harmony, and a rich tapestry of story telling. Check out the band's sound ahead of time on their Youtube link.
The show is at 8 pm and seats are only available through reserved seating. Tickets range from $25-$35. Two Steps, the local Southwestern eatery is holding a promotion for 20% off for Dan Paisley and The Southern Grass ticket holders, April 12 only. Their menu is available at ciaocateringtwosteps.com. (They also host cooking classes!)
For live music aficionados who will have to pass on the grass this weekend, (er, bluegrass...) The palace is hosting Grammy-nominated Wanda L Houston to perform the music of Marian Anderson later on Saturday, May 10 at 8 pm.
Prior to the signature opera arias and favorite Negro spirituals of this "Diva of Danbury," the Danbury Museum and Historical Society will host a wine and hors d'oeuvres reception in Ms Anderson's ACTUAL REHEARSAL STUDIO, featuring memorabilia, photographs, and the gowns that she wore while performing.
Tickets to the concert are $25, tickets to the reception are $12.
