Bluegrass-comedy's The Cleverlys celebrate new CD with local live shows, TV

Locals who can appreciate some serious bluegrass pickin' combined with a happy mix of "aw-shucks" comedy will want to investigate The Cleverlys, a five-piece act that will be on cable and local TV as well as on the live stage this week.

Hailing from a remote part of the Ozarks, The Cleverlys--led by Paul Harris, a.k.a.
"Digger"--are a traditional family bluegrass band with a slightly skewed sense of the past, present and future whose lineup is as comfortable with a high lonesome cover of Stevie Wonder's “Superstition” and Fergie's “Clumsy” as they are “In The Pines.”

Now touring in support of the group's still-new, self-titled debut album, in addition to the aforementioned Digger, the family band consists of  Miles, Vernon Dean, Harvey D. and cousin Otto, and the players' first TV stop this week will be Saturday, Feb. 11, on RFD-TV's Larry's Diner show, which will air at 10-11 a.m. (CST). They'll also be guests on FOX-17's TN Mornings on Thursday, Feb. 16, which airs 5-9 a.m.

In the live and local arena, The Cleverlys will perform at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15, as part of Music City Roots at The Loveless Café Barn, 8400 Highway 100, in Nashville, and again the following day, Feb. 16, at 9 p.m. on the stage of The Station Inn, 402 12th Ave. South.

Prior to this week's local performances, The Cleverlys quintet has performed at the Stage Coach Music Fesitval, The Mint in Losa Angeles, on the stage of the Grand Ole Opry and as part of last year's CMA Music Festival LP Field concerts. With all the performances have come critical acclaim by industry insiders and the most respected of music critics from The LA Times, AOL, USA Today and many more.
