Bluefish looking for families to host players for 2013 season

Winter hasn’t nearly finished rearing its ugly head yet, but already the signs of spring are on the horizon. Case in point: the Bridgeport Bluefish, Connecticut’s only Independent League minor league baseball team, is looking for host families willing to open their doors and offer accommodations for members of this year’s team.

Host families are asked to provide one player with a private bedroom, and access to bathroom, kitchen and washer/dryer facilities. In return, host families are welcomed to attend all home games throughout the 2013 season free of charge.

“Becoming a host family is a great way for fans to connect with the Bluefish,” said General Manager Ken Shepard. “It also allows the members of the team to truly respect the city they play for with a place to call home for a season.”

For many families, hosting a player has made a special impact on their lives as well as their “adopted” family member. Without question, host families become part of the immediate Bluefish family.
