On Saturday, November 2 at 6 p.m., Blue Pants Brewery (500 Lanier Road, Madison) will host its 2nd Annual Pinstripe Fest, a celebration dedicated entirely to the release of their winter seasonal Pinstripe Stout.
Pinstripe Stout, an 8% ABV American Stout with Kaffeeklatsch House Dark Roast Coffee added, has proven over the years to be Blue Pants Brewery's most popular offering. Year in and year out, Pinstripe fans eagerly await news of when the newest batch will be released. The inquiries about the beer were so constant that Michael Spratley, head brewer and founder of Blue Pants, decided the dedicated lovers of Pinstripe Stout deserved their own day to properly ring in the winter release. With them in mind, Spratley and his team organized the first Pinstripe Fest in November of 2012. In addition to serving the original Pinstripe Stout, Spratley prepared almost a dozen variations of the stout for attendees to sample while enjoying college football and live music at the brewery. The event was a huge hit, and that ensured this celebration would be an annual affair.
"Last year it was our favorite event and turned out to be a really unique experience," says Spratley. "I still have people come up to me at bars raving about the Bacon or the Dry Hopped versions."
This year's Pinstripe Fest will be set up similarly to the original by featuring a dozen variations of Pinstripe Stout. The Bourbon Barrel Pinstripe, winner of the popular vote for 'Best in Fest' at last year's event, will be the only returning flavor. The other 11 will be completely new flavors concocted by the fine brewing minds at Blue Pants. The full Pinstripe menu is as follows:
- Apple Cinnamon Pinstripe
- Bourbon Barrel Pinstripe
- Donut Pinstripe
- Gingerbread Pinstripe
- Imperial Pinstripe
- Low Gravity Pinstripe
- Milk Pinstripe (featuring lactose sugar)
- Nitro Pinstripe
- Peanut Butter and Banana Pinstripe
- Piña Colada Pinstripe
- Sriracha Pinstripe (**)
- Vanilla Pinstripe
(**) The Sriracha is proving a bit challenging in the brewing process, so it may or may not make the final cut.
Tickets are available for purchase now in the Blue Pants taproom or you can get them online by clicking here. General admission tickets are $25, and that gets you into the fest, beer samples, and access to the live music. There is a second ticket tier for $28, and that gets you all that is listed above plus a branded, souvenir glass. Designated driver tickets are also available for $10.
This event was an incredibly good time last year, and I urge you to get some tickets if you are free on November 2. You truly cannot go wrong with the original Pinstripe Stout, so you can rest assured that an event showcasing a dozen variations of that beer is going to treat you right. Make it happen. Prost!
