"Blue" gets Red Band Trailer

The producers of the critically acclaimed film “Blue Is the Warmest Color” have released a red band trailer. Sundance Select is hoping that they can get award consideration and more mileage out of their stunning Cannes Film Festival win. Director Abdellatif Kechiche and star actors Adele Exarchopoulos and Lea Seydoux all shared the prestigious Palme d’Or award for their masterful work in an epic love story between two young French women at the end of the 1990s. Abdellatif and screenwriter Ghalia Lacroix are credited with adapting the French graphic novel "Le Bleu Est Une Couleur Chaude" penned by Julie Maroh.

The film has reaped attention from critics and the press for testing the NC-17 rated sex scenes, as well as the war that was waged between the director and the actors during an embattled production to land on numerous top ten lists. Some have described the film as a yelling and lovemaking match between two lesbian lovers. Most notable was the remarkable performance of Exarchopoulos who captivated audiences with her turn as the sexually conflicted Adele. Could this little film with a heart and outstanding performances be a big winner come award season? We’ll have to wait and see…

Although the film is not eligible for a Best Foreign Film nomination for an Oscar, it will contend in that category at the Golden Globes. It will be released on home video via the Criterion Collection in February.
