Following a public fracas with the CBS network, Jennifer Esposito exited “Blue Bloods” last October leaving producers in hot pursuit of a new partner for hard-nosed cop Danny Reagan (Donnie Wahlberg). After shifts for Megan Ketch and Megan Boone, the show has found the magic match in Marisa Ramirez who slid comfortably into the character of Maria Baez last Friday in the episode “Protest Too Much.”
Ramirez is on board to finish the third season as Danny’s partner with producers eyeing her for a regular role next season. The chemistry between Ramirez and Wahlberg works, with Ramirez’s Maria a charming combination of sweet and “don’t push it” to Wahlberg’s brash and well-meaning Danny. The audience certainly didn't "Protest Too Much". “Blue Bloods” landed in the top 10 highest rated network primetime shows for the week, booking a solid 10.7 million viewers.
Ramirez has played cops and robbers before and the “uniform” fits her style well. Notably, she starred as Internal Affairs Detective Lina Flores in Lifetime’s one-season series “Against the Wall.” The actress is also pulling a double shift this year, recurring as uniformed office Riley Dunn on ABC’s “Body of Proof.”
