The 14th Annual Blowing Rock Winterfest returns to Blowing Rock, North Carolina this weekend offering a variety of ways to be cool this winter at this popular event near the Blue Ridge Parkway and close to Asheville and Charlotte.

From the Chili Cook-Off to WinterPaws, from the icy Polar Plunge to WinterFeast, there's something for all age groups at Blowing Rock Winterfest.

  • Some Highlights:
  • Friday 5pm - The Appalachian Ski Mountain Resort will have plenty of man-made snow for a special event on Friday Night from 5pm-12am.

    • Saturday 10am THE POLAR PLUNGE for WINE TO WATER- Watch the fearless contenders take the Plunge into Chetola Lake. Sponsored by Chetola Resort. The #1 spectator sport in Blowing Rock. Don’t miss it! New Polar Plungers are welcome. It costs only $25 to jump. This year, the Polar Plunge will benefit the Boone-based non-profit organization Wine to Water, which will use all proceeds to help provide clean drinking water for a village in Ethiopia. Wine to Water founder and president Doc Hendley will even take the plunge!

  • Saturday 11am-3pm CHILI COOK-OFF! D-e-l-i-c-i-o-u-s! - CASI-sponsored Chili Cook-Off!  Taste a wide variety of chili concocted by the pros.  Restaurants as well as individuals will be serving up spicy or mild, chunky and smooth and Brunswick Stew for your tasting pleasure. Located at the Blowing Rock School Gymnasium on Morris Street.  Tickets available at the Blowing Rock Chamber of Commerce, online, or at the door.

    • Accomodations are available in Blowing Rock and also near by in Boone. Drive on up and plan on making a full weekend of fun.
