Alan Levy of BlogTalkRadio appeared on Bloomberg TV's 'The Scene' on Oct. 16, 2013. Some of the reasons that BlogTalkRadio's Mr. Levy appeared on 'The Scene': "1800 shows made/day", "15K+ active hosts" and "40 million listeners/month". One other important statistic mentioned in the segment - BTR has about 120 million consumers. That is just between the current populations of Japan/Mexico. The restlessly inquisitive Adam Johnson was apparently fascinated by the whole BTR DIY "system and process".
According to Alan Levy all one needs is a phone (surely he meant a smartphone) and an internet connection. Of course, you will also have to sign up for your free BTR account. As with any DIY project you may decide to spend the few extra dollars for premium or higher value accounts. Even with the free account you can have up to 5 simultaneous live chatters on your broadcast. Post the finished program to your blog and have it on (archived) iTunes as well.
DIY/setup of your free account will need: a program title (35 or less characters), a description/profile (155 or less characters) and select your show category (appears to be 100+ selections). Your free show is limited to 30 minutes with 3 uploads. Free BTR DJs do not get prime time scheduling. Still if you are ready with your concept - that is probably the most key feature - you can probably start DIY DJing in a matter of a short time. If you've ever heard a radio/DJ/TV program go "silent" then you know the importance of readiness.
You're in good company with BTR - whole DJ/radio networks are founded on BlogTalkRadio. For example; The Tavis Smiley Network, (not network) Fantasy Guru and (not network) The Hagmann and Hagmann Report. The attached video is one from 'The Doctors Radio Show' with Kim W. on BlogTalkRadio about EmpowHER. If you want to be your own DIY DJ then BlogTalkRadio might just be your source. Thanks to the people at Bloomberg TV for interviewing Alan Levy about it. Of course, some of us would love to hear Booktalk with Peter Griffin on BTR.
