Bloody pillow found in crib of Mass. toddler who died after nanny assault

Police found a bloody pillow in the crib of a Massachusetts toddler who died after being assaulted by her Irish nanny, according to a Jan. 23 Fox 8 report. The nanny, Aisling McCarthy Brady, is in jail on an assault charge, and now that this new evidence has been found, she may face a murder charge.

The nanny is charged with assaulting Rehma Sabir, on the baby's first birthday. The toddler was hospitalized for two days with head injuries, and ultimately she died from the injuries. What a horrific incident for this poor baby girl.

A concerned neighbor actually heard the little girl crying for an hour, and she even tried to knock on the door, but nobody answered. Eventually, the baby's cries grew extreme and then suddenly stopped. The neighbor said,

"It [the cries] started to slow and settle down before stopping completely."

The nanny was in the U.S. illegally, and she has been charged with assault before, although never assault of a baby. Aisling McCarthy Brady had been Rehma Sabir's nanny for about six months, and the day Rehma Sabir was hospitalized, another toddler was in the nanny's care. That child was unharmed.

In addition to the bloody pillow, police also found a bloody blanket and wipes in the toddler's crib. Middlesex District Attorney Gerry Leone said,

"This is an extremely troubling case where we allege the defendant violently assaulted a one-year-old child, causing a devastating head injury and broken bones. Children are our most vulnerable victims and where, as here, the offender has been entrusted with the care of a child who depends on them, the allegations are all the more egregious."

It is incredibly horrifying to hear about this case. The nanny's lawyer denies that she was involved in the child's death. Do you think this could be true? If so, who injured this child and cause her death, which was "consistent with abusive head trauma?"
