On Thursday, October 24, Spokane-area author Frank Zafiro announced on Twitter that "Blood on Blood", a crime novel he co-wrote with Jim Wilsky, is now available as an audiobook narrated by Darren Meekin.
"Blood on Blood", available now from Snubnose Press, is the first book in a proposed trilogy of hard-hitting, fast paced crime novels by Zafiro and Wilsky. The book and its sequel "Queen of Diamonds" are available now from Amazon, Barnes and Noble and local retailers such as Auntie's Bookstore in downtown Spokane. Kindle and Nook editions of "Blood on Blood" retail for only $.99.
According to the synopsis on Zafiro's website, When half-brothers Mick and Jerzy Sawyer are summoned to their father’s prison deathbed, it isn’t for a tearful goodbye. The spiteful old man tells the two estranged brothers about an old diamond heist with outstanding loot, and sets them on a path of cooperation and competition to recover the jewels.
"Jerzy is the quintessential career criminal, fresh out of a short bit and looking to get back into the action right away. Mick is the failed cop and tainted hero struggling to get by with a clean life that doesn’t seem to ever pay off. Both men see this score as their ticket out of Chicago.
"Throw in the mysterious, blond Ania, and Blood on Blood is hardboiled Hardy Boys meets Cain and Abel. Jerzy and Mick battle each other for all of it — the diamonds, the girl, and survival — and nothing else matters…not even blood."
The audiobook clocks in at six hours and 44 minutes. It retails for $19.95, but Amazon currently has it marked down to $17.46. The audiobook is available for free if people take advantage of a 30-day free trial offered by Audible.
Crime fiction fans in the greater Spokane area who also enjoy audiobooks or want to give one a try will probably love the audiobook edition of "Blood on Blood." The story is told from the perspectives of Mick and Jerzy in alternating chapters, so that could add to the fun of the audio edition as the narrator quickly moves back and forth between the roles of two very different characters.
