Blondie, one of the greatest New York City bands of all time, celebrate their 40th anniversary together this week with a brand new album and a few NYC area shows.
The legendary punk/new wave pioneers just released (out 5/13) a two-disc set titled Blondie 4(0) Ever that features a new 12-track album, Ghosts of Download. The set also includes Deluxe Redux: Greatest Hits, featuring Blondie rerecording brand new versions of some of their best known songs. There will also be a deluxe version of Blondie 4(0) Ever available, one that includes a DVD of Blondie performing at CBGB in 1977, a replica vintage concert poster and 5 postcards with guitarist Chris Stein's photographs.
To help celebrate the special occasion, Brooklyn record store/music venue Rough Trade will host Blondie on May 19th, as the group promises to play a full-set in the rather intimate space. For tickets to the show, you need to buy Blondie 4(0) Ever at Rough Trade anytime between May 13th and 19th and receive a wristband for access to the show.
If you miss that opportunity, you can catch Blondie in Atlantic City at Tropicana Casino & Resort on May 24th; in Bethlehem, PA at the Sands Bethlehem Event Center on May 25th; or, see lead singer Debbie Harry and guitarist Chris Stein have a nice conversation with respected music journalist Anthony DeCurtis at 92Y on May 28th.
