'Bloggeranza Week' interview with Matt Stone from '180 Degree Health'

I love the fact that the alternative health blogosphere has grown and grown over the past few years and I’m privileged to be a part of this underground movement to educate, encourage, and inspire others to buck the trend of conventional wisdom regarding health and weight loss. With the continued rise in obesity and diabetes in the 21st Century, people are now looking for answers elsewhere online which is why sites and podcasts like mine are still gaining in popularity. Every single day this week I’m gonna be sharing interviews with these top bloggers for what I’m calling the first-ever “Bloggeranza.”

In Episode 346 of “The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show with Jimmy Moore,” we kick off this special week of podcast interviews with Matt Stone from “180 Degree Health” who is the king of controversy online. In fact, I was even the subject of one of Matt’s most recent posts entitled “Poor Poor Jimmy Moore” where he provided his own unique commentary on my recent weight gain and why he believes my self-imposed eggfest will be a dismal failure (although I’ve lost nearly 25 pounds in the first 21 days of eating eggs, butter, and cheese while giving up diet soda and all artificial sweeteners for the first time in my life). It’s okay to have an opinion and I appreciate anyone who will make you think about what you believe and why you believe it. And that’s exactly what Matt Stone does with his blog.

Listen to him talk about how his own slew of health problems turned him to a fascination with the subject of health, the heavy influence of Weston A. Price on his thinking, why he decided to try a vegetarian diet and why it failed him, the “Nutritarian” diet by Joel Fuhrman and why it can cause problems, his attempt at doing a zero-carb diet (aka the FUMP diet), his controversial, counterintuitive “High Everything Diet,” why he believes fructose is the #1 reason behind obesity and disease, the greater role of the hormone leptin than insulin, the greater prevalence of body temperature in health and why most people tend to have lower temperatures, why taking your temperature in the morning under your armpit clues you in to some possible health concerns like Type 2 hypothyroidism, the best way to check your temperature in the morning, the influence of T.L. Cleave on Gary Taubes’ Good Calories Bad Calories, the difference between refined and unrefined carbohydrates, how the low-carb ketogenic diet can be counterproductive to treating insulin resistance and health issues, why he says “low-carb is a dead end” for most people, what he says is the insulin-stabilizing effects of an unrefined high-carb diet, and his upcoming attempt at an all raw milk diet.

If you do the all raw-milk diet, I suggest you clabber some or all of the milk to reduce the lactose load.
