Since the original StarCraft was released a bit over a decade ago, it has gone on to become one of the most popular games available for the PC in history after selling 11 million copies. Now, with the first iteration in the three-part sequel set to arrive at the end of this month, word has come out on just how much Blizzard doled out to create this latest blockbuster.
It comes as a surprise, especially during a period of worldwide economic recession, that a PC game would receive such a staggeringly momentous budget as StarCraft II. However, Activision Blizzard have had no qualms whatsoever over the $100 million dollars they have spent over the course of developing the highly anticipated game. No doubt, the cost may come as a bit of a shock, but expectations from the gaming community are extremely high.
I guess we'll all find out when StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty releases July 27th on PC and Mac.
