On Thusrday, Blizzard Entertainment announced that virtual tickets to Blizzcon 2013 were on sale. Taking place November 8th and 9th in Ahaheim, CA, Blizzcon is the (usually) annual event showcasing all things World of Warcraft, Diablo, and StarCraft. The $39.99 Blizzcon virtual ticket enables Blizzard fans to take part in the convention from the comfort of their own homes by watching the events live on their own computers. There is speculation that the next World of Warcraft expansion will be announced at Blizzcon 2013, so fans watching with a virtual ticket will know about it at the same time as people actually there.
People who purchase a Blizzcon virtual ticket can expect to get HD quality video coverage of the entire two-day event with DVR-like functionality. This includes developer panels, interviews, community contests (like the always popular cosplay contests and the Blizzcon 2013 Talent Contest, which promises to be quite the show all by itself) and the closing ceremony.
In addition to being able to enjoy Blizzcon itself, Blizzard is promising exclusive in-game perks for all of their big games, including World of Warcraft, StarCraft II, Diablo III, and Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft. Details of these perks will be announced soon.
