Blizzard from 'Ice Age' stops creatures with flying from attacking twice (Photos)

Blizzard is a rare green enchantment from Wizards of the Coast's first true stand alone "Magic: The Gathering" expansion set "Ice Age."

Blizzard - GG
Enchantment (Rare)
Cast Blizzard only if you control a snow land.
Cumulative upkeep 2
(At the beginning of your upkeep, put an age counter on this permanent, then sacrifice it unless you pay its upkeep cost for each age counter on it.)
Creatures with flying don't untap during their controllers' untap steps.

At a time when some of the game's most powerful and creatures had flying, this frozen Hurricane could stop your opponent's deadliest threats cold in their tracks. The problem is they got to attack you first.

Unfortunately Blizzard did nothing against Serra Angel unless you had a way of tapping it (Using letter "I" from our "ABC's of Masters Edition IV" would be a flavorful way). It did hit other popular favorites of the time such as Sengir Vampire, Serendib Efreet, Shivan Dragon, and Mahamoti Djinn.

These days Blizzard clogs up dealer's inventories and collects dust in player's binders. Perhaps someone might create an "old school" type four or gauntlet of Commander decks with no cards newer than "Alliances" where it might be relevant.

If you do, email us your lists and we'll feature your submission.
