By now nearly the whole world has heard the story of the blind Great Dane named Lily and her companion Great Dane named Maddison. The story of the two dogs and photos of them touched the hearts of many people. Sadly, the dogs relationship ended shortly after they found their new home with the Williams family.
Although everything seemed to be going great with the pair, once they were in their new home together Lily turned on Maddison. After many unsuccessful attempts to bring the pair back together, Maddison stayed with the Willilams family and Lily went back to the Dogs Trust facility. Charlotte Speedy with the Dogs Trust stated that the decision to separate them was not been taken lightly. "Despite the best efforts of staff and the very committed new owners, it became evident that Lily and Maddison were no longer happy to live together. The nature of their relationship changed in their new home environment and after careful consideration, and many attempts at re-introduction in different surroundings which continued until very recently, the decision was made that they would need to be re-homed separately," she said.
It’s very sad that their relationship was not able to be maintained but its clear that it was not due to the owners or the facilities and no one wanted to separate the pair. Unfortunately some times when you change a dynamic in a dogs life, such as their home environment, this sort of thing can happen. Its likely that Lily was panicked over her new situation and that created friction between the dogs.
