In mid-January, a petite, frightened dog was surrendered to a Los Angeles, Calif., area animal control facility by her owner.
The dog, obviously distraught and confused, had more on her plate than most other surrendered dogs. Aside from the obvious emotional trauma which stems from being abandoned, were physical issues which set the little dog apart.
The dog, now known as "Tessa," appeared to be blind and she had trouble walking...for that matter, she had difficulty standing.
A representative with the rescue organization, The Bill Foundation, pulled the small dog from the facility, despite her many obvious health issues.
Over the course of the next several weeks, Tessa's transformation was nothing short of miraculous.
Veterinarians had initially determined that Tessa had fluid on her brain which caused dizziness as well as abnormal retinas which contributed to her blindness. Suffice to say, the initial diagnosis was not promising.
Fast forward to today...Tessa is standing, walking and even running. She now responds to light and has even revealed a decidedly playful personality.
Tessa is a dog transformed by love, good care and physical therapy.
Tessa is a dog who would not be alive if not for those who gave her a chance so many weeks ago.
