Greetings Family,

Please see the following Genna Message from Elder Ras Irice, Executive Director of the I-Niversal Development of Ras Tafari, Inc. (IDOR).

Perfect Love and Blessings to all Ras Tafari people and others of goodwill throughout the world. I wish for all, Ras Tafari richest blessings, guidance and protection in the New Year. To full-courage and strengthen your morality, I direct you to the following words, sound and power from the Law Giver, His Imperial Majesty Emperor Haile Selassie I, the First:

“As we contemplate the Ethiopian New Year, 1958, We cannot avoid thanking the Almighty for his innumerable blessings bestowed upon Us and the Ethiopian people in the year that has just passed. Nor can We escape thinking of the problems faced and overcome, those exiting at present and those anticipated in man’s unending march forward in the search for peace progress, and prosperity.

Ethiopia and the Ethiopian people have passed another year in their successful striving for a better life, and an inventory of the past year makes Us confident of continuing achievements in the New Year and the years ahead. This is so because the foundations that we have laid and that we continue to lay as we travel the high road of progress assure the stability and resilience of a superstructure that under modern Ethiopianism We are committed to build. The splendid co-operation and collaboration among our people and their steadfast striving for education and enlightenment bring to mind those proverbial busy workers – the bees – which combine their efforts and work for the common good.

The task of nation-building is one that involves generations – the duty of each succeeding to consolidate the gains made by its predecessor. The Ethiopian people have demonstrated this awareness, so that in the manifold areas of the nation’s life, with their eyes fixed on the future, they continue to conquer new frontiers year after year. Our people shall never lack the solicitude, the guidance which We pledged from the day We assumed leadership and the sustaining of which history has thus far eloquently vindicated. The desire and eagerness of our people to work together and their keen interest to improve the general welfare of the nation have been a great source of satisfaction to Us. Much has been accomplished, but more remains to be achieved.” (Selected Speeches, p. 477)

As a leading and active foundation Ancient of the Nyahbinghi Order, as Executive Director of I-niversal Development of Ras Tafari, Inc (IDOR) and as one of the Ras Tafari Ancients in the Washington DC-Baltimore community, and the Nyahbinghi House in particular, I embrace this address of InI Father and express it to the emerging Ras Tafari Nation. As I performed various roles, duties, and responsibilities, in positions of leadership, from the infancy of Ras Tafari struggle for self determination, to the building of modern Ras Tafari organizations and structures, I “cannot avoid thanking Haile Selassie I the First for the innumerable blessings bestowed upon his children in the year that has just passed; InI pray for good health, prosperity, and greater blessings in the years to come!

Yes, “InI cannot escape thinking of the problems faced and overcome; those exiting at present and those anticipated in InI ceaseless march forward in the search for peace, progress, and prosperity.” I note the various challenges which face the emerging Ras Tafari Nation, however, “the foundations that Haile Selassie I laid and that we strive to build on as we travel the high road of progress, assure the stability and resilience of a superstructure for the future of this great Movement.

Traveling to Jamaica in the past year to The RasTafari Studies Conference and General Assembly at the UWI Mona Campus was a great and historic opportunity for I to physically connect and share with Ras Tafari people from all over the world who gathered in Jamaica. However, I paid special attention to the Jamaican Nyahbinghi Family. Although faced with many difficult challenges, I saw “splendid co-operation and collaboration among our people with steadfast striving for education and enlightenment.” I saw youth now studying Ras Tafari at the UWI; Ras Tafari leading the charge and strong push toward reparations; Ras Tafari people building transparent and accountable community organizations to harness, protect and control InI inherent resources, and many other hopeful efforts toward nation building. On the international front, faithful Ras Tafari soldiers are mobilizing and cooperating to build-up parallel structures that will help to integrate and consolidate the necessary organizations and institutions that are emerging to create capacity and sustain ongoing reparation and repatriation efforts.

All InI efforts will be successful, if InI overstand that “The task of nation-building is one that involves generations – the duty of each, succeeding to consolidate the gains made by its predecessor.” InI must “demonstrate this awareness, so that in the manifold areas of the nation’s life, with InI eyes fixed on the future, InI will itinue to conquer new frontiers year after year.

Ras Tafari people shall never lack the solicitude, the guidance which Haile Selassie I the First pledged for InI.

JAH will never fail InI, therefore be steadfast to Ras Tafari Teachings. Haile Selassie I the First have laid out a clear path for InI. “Much has been accomplished, but more remains to be achieved.”

Hail His Imperial Majesty Emperor Haile Selassie I the First & Empress Menen.

Hail His Imperial Majesty Emperor Haile Selassie I The First & Her Imperial Highness Empress Menen

Ras Tafari Teachings:

"What is needed, above all, is patience which accepts delays, while striving to overcome them, and tolerance which comprehends our weaknesses, our selfish ambitions, and our narrow self-interest, while seeking to strengthen our will and stiffen our moral fiber and devotion to principle and international morality: which can alone arm and shield and support us in the daily strife which is our fate as we toil to better the lot of Africa and all [mankind] everywhere. Unless we find the requisite courage and fixity of purpose to rise above ourselves; we shall be broken on the wheel of our own invention, slaves of our own despotism. The spirit of Africa, which surrounds our deliberations here, is deserving of the greatness which Africa demands of it. Let us prove ourselves worthy of it." (Important Utterances of H.I.M. p. 379-380 - Address to OAU Cairo Summit, July 21, 1964)
