'Bless Me, Ultima' to hit Las Vegas theaters

Bless Me, Ultima, Rudolfo Anaya’s popular novel about a boy, a medicine woman, and the waging war of good and evil, will be coming to select theaters on February 22, 2013. This story is one of magic, spirituality, culture, and a bit of controversy. Written in 1972, it is highly respected academically and used to both entertain and educate readers about Chicano culture, but some of the adult elements within the book led to it being titled as one of the most challenged books in the United States in 2008.

Last year, Bless Me, Ultima became the best-selling Chicano book ever and now Las Vegas will be among the cities that can witness the initial debut of this classic on the big screen. Much like the novel, reception of the film has been favorable by critics and viewers of all cultures as it combines a stellar cast of actors and visuals with a story that is unforgettable.
