It's not secret that the members of the somewhat overnight success pop trio Fun. are all immensely talented, and don't need each other to make crazy-catchy and solid indie-pop jams. (Of course, as evidenced by their debut, Aim & Ignite, their collaboration can still yield phenomenal results).
Take Bleachers for instance: the latest brainchild of Fun. guitarist / former Steel Train lead vocalist Jack Antonoff. If the latest music video for his first ever single, "I Wanna Get Better," is any indication, we could have another sweeping pop success on our hands.
That is not a bad thing, in this case. Antonoff clearly knows what he's doing, combining indie-rock sensibility and off-beat writing style with swooping pop choruses and grandiosity. The track is infectious and light, with enough substance to separate itself from the princess pop that so often strangles the airwaves. Give it a listen. Then go listen to Steel Train, The Format, and Anathallo, the three defunct bands that dispersed to form Fun.
It's also worth mentioning that, in addition to featuring a pretty killer track, the music video was directed by none other than Lena Dunham (Girls), and it is quite spectacular in its own right.
