Blatchford tops bowling entries at Montclair

Don Blatchford tops entries in the 60-and-over division of the West Coast Senior Tour’s stop this weekend at Bowlium Lanes in Montclair in San Bernardino County.

It is the WCST’s first tournament of the season.

The right-handed Blatchford has won the last two WCST competitions and has won three of the last four.

Blatchford, a Santa Monica resident, was named the tour’s 2012 bowler of the year in the Super Senior division for winning five WCST titles last year.

There will be plenty of formidable competition for Blatchford, including left-hander Kevin Gannon of Lakewood, the tour’s all-time money winner with $106,325 in earnings.

Gannon won two titles last year, tying Larry Rumple of Malibu for second-most titles in 2012. Rumple also is entered in the 60-and-older division.

West Hills’ Barry Gurney is another strong entrant. The 71-year-old Gurney was recently ranked 20th on the all-time senior earnings list with $206,985.
