Old-timers who used to visit the old Cypress Gardens in Winter Haven, Florida, no doubt remember the gracious southern belles who used to stroll the beautifully manicured grounds. When Legoland Florida opened in 2011 and reopened part of the garden area, the only belles on hand were of the Lego brick variety.

On March 5, 2014, a page from the history books came back to life when several southern belles, including some of the originals, joined their Lego counterparts to honor the reopening of the Oriental Garden area and the famous Florida pool.

Click the slideshow accompanying this article to see the belles, both live and Lego, and the iconic pool. You'll also see the park's general manager, Adrian Jones, and Bob Gernert, former Winter Haven Chamber Executive Director and Cypress Gardens historian. They were both on hand, along with the media, as the pool and Oriental Garden were officially reopened. Guests can enjoy those areas starting on March 6. The gardens are included with your regular Legoland Florida admission ticket.
