The home of the Blarney Stone, Blarney Castle is a relatively small castle situated in the southern part of Ireland. There are 60 acres of gardens and parklands surrounding the castle, as well as a Poison Garden and Blarney House. There are different walks to enjoy, like the Lake Walk or the Woodland Walk, as well.
Many people visit Blarney Castle in order to kiss the Blarney Stone, a well known mythical stone that if kissed bestows the gift of eloquence, or the gift of the gab, on the kisser. As for a history of the castle, it was built nearly 600 years ago by Cormac MacCarthy, very well known in Ireland's history. In order to kiss the stone, you must lean backwards, grasp two metal handrails while being held by an assistant, and find the right stone and kiss it. There are many stones where the Blarney Stone is, and by kissing the wrong stone you won't receive the gift.
