Country star and The Voice Judge Blake Shelton has vowed to find justice for his close friend who was killed during a brutal bar fight. The bar fight occurred at Nashville’s Pit and Barrel bar after Blake Shelton’s friend was caught smoking in a non-smoking area.
Shelton’s friend and mentor, Jerald Wayne Mills was killed on November 23 by the owner of the Pit and Barrel bar Chris Ferrell. The bar brawl between the two men occurred over where Mills decided to light up.
Mills allegedly shot Jerald Wayne Mills in the back of the head at approximately 5:00 a.m. Just a few hours before Mills was killed, Blake Shelton had performed in front of him.
A source close to the situation stated, “At first, Blake was in shock, but now that he’s had some time to process the news, his hurt and heartbreak is turning to seething anger.” The source went on to add that Shelton has said that he’ll use his fame, fortune and energy to make sure there is a thorough investigation into Mills death.
“He’s willing to testify or serve as a character witness for Wayne,” the source stated. “Whatever it takes to help cops bring a homicide charge.” Shelton’s wife, Miranda Lambert is said to be “fully behind Blake.”
The source said that, “She told her husband, ‘an eye for an eye, baby. I’ll support you through this nightmare.’”
Chris Ferrell is claiming he shot Jerald Wayne Mills in self-defense. Ferrell has a valid permit to carry his handgun so as of yet, he has not been arrested or charged with any crimes.
