Blake Shelton has taken his “The Voice” co-star, Shakira, to the country. The country music superstar has helped Shakira “get a little country” on her upcoming album. According to a March 7 report by Billboard, Shakira wanted to work with “Nashville people.”

Shakira wrote the country song in about a month and half. She did about eight versions of the song before she decided it was truly a country song. She was nervous that Blake Shelton wouldn't like it. Despite her concerns, Shelton did like the song.

Blake Shelton liked the song so much that he agreed to sing it with the Colombian star. Shelton said he was “honored to do it.”

Shakira believes that her previous albums have “real folks roots” so country music seemed like a natural step to take. She also wanted the song to “suit her” because of her Colombian heritage.

Shakira was happy to work with “real people with real roots.” At the time of publication, it was unknown when the song would be released. It is also unknown if “The Voice” stars will be working together more in the future.
