Blake Shelton trails Miranda Lambert with three ACM nominations

When the nominees for the 2013 ACM Awards were announced on February 13th, things may have gotten a little bit tense in the Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert household. Though Blake Shelton's popularity has gone through the roof in recent years with his successful album “Red River Blue” and his stint on “The Voice”, when it comes to ACM nominations, it turns out that girl power rules.

Blake Shelton may be the reigning CMA Entertainer of the Year, but now that the ACM nominees have been announced, Blake Shelton is finding out that he's got some healthy competition. Not only is he trying to wrestle the top award from his wife, Miranda Lambert, he will have to outdo Taylor Swift, who beat him out once before plus Luke Bryan and Jason Aldean who have both tasted the spice of success over the past few years.

Will it be a cut and dry win for Blake Shelton this year? Tune in to CBS on April 7th when the Academy of Country music announces its winners. Blake Shelton is vying for awards in the following categories:

Entertainer of the Year

Male Vocalist of the Year

Song of the Year - “Over You” (songwriter)
